Cat Buyer Guide helps you decide how to get a cat: whether to adopt or buy, how to choose a breeder or a shelter, how to spot a scam, when a kitten is ready to come home, and what the first year really costs. We focus on the decisions you make before the cat arrives, because those are the hardest to undo.
Who’s behind Cat Buyer Guide
Cat Buyer Guide is edited by Anisur Rahman, who builds and runs independent websites. The site is published by PPC Optimizer Pro LLC, a company registered in Wyoming, USA.
We don’t own a cat, and we won’t pretend to. You won’t read here that we raised a kitten, tested a litter box or watched “our cat” try a toy. Instead, we do the research a careful buyer would do, at a scale one buyer can’t: we collect real prices, read what vets and official bodies actually say, and show our working.
How we research
- Our own dated data. When a guide gives a price, we collected it ourselves from public sources: breeder listings, shelter and rescue adoption fees, insurers’ published prices and retailers’ product pages. Every number carries the date we checked it, we keep the raw data, and the guide explains the method: how many prices, where they came from, and what we left out.
- Expert sources for health, age, safety and the law. These come from veterinary and official bodies, linked on the page: the Cornell Feline Health Center, the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the ASPCA, International Cat Care, the cat registries CFA and TICA, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
- No hands-on claims. Guides to supplies are buyer’s guides built from specifications, prices, warranties and return policies, and they say they aren’t hands-on tests.
- Talk to your vet. Our health pages explain what vets and official guidelines say. They never give a diagnosis or a dose: your own vet knows your cat.
- We re-check. Prices are re-checked about every 60 to 90 days, and every guide shows the date its facts were last checked.
How Cat Buyer Guide makes money
Some guides link to products, such as cat supplies, through affiliate links. We’re a participant in the Amazon Associates program: as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy through one of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never decide what we recommend, and we don’t sell rankings or placements. Every guide says at the top whether it contains affiliate links. The details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
About this domain
CatBuyerGuide.com was home to a different site from about 2012 to 2022. It was run by a group of cat breeders, with articles on buying pet and show cats and a members’ forum. The domain changed hands in 2026, and this is a new site with a new publisher and new writing.
- We are not connected to the old site’s team or the breeders it listed.
- We don’t have its forum, its member accounts or its old articles, and we don’t publish its lists of catteries.
- Where an old page covered a topic we now write about, its link leads to our new guide on that topic.
